6th Avenue Business District, Tacoma
District Information
The 6th Avenue Business District Association was formed in the early ninties to improve the neighborhood and procure an inviting, safe environment to conduct business. This volunteer-driven effort focuses on the following four areas that provide benefits to our members and neighborhood. It follows concepts adopted from the nationally-proven Main Street model, which has improved many districts across the country. Here are some of the ways that volunteers help 6th Avenue:
- Organization encompasses member services, communication efforts and the structure of our association. It also provides regular meetings for members and a district newsletter.
- Promotion is the marketing of our district and individual businesses. Volunteers also plan and coordinate district events and festivals.
- Economic Restructuring addresses our real estate, leases, and vacancies. It focuses on attracting business and communicating information between property owners and tenants.
- Design Focuses on beautification and maintenance of the physical environment of our district.
